You can use GIFs, animated GIFs, JPEGs, and PNGs as the source for a rollover. When an external file is chosen as the rollover source, that file is swapped with the target slice when the rollover is triggered in a Web browser.
The file must have the same width and height as the slice it is swapping into. If it is not the same size as the slice, the browser resizes the file to fit within the slice object. Resizing the file may reduce its quality, especially for an animated GIF.
Note: Fireworks does not pre-cache rollovers that use external files for rollover states. Not pre-caching prevents interrupted display in browsers when using animated GIFs as rollover states. If you want to pre-cache these rollovers, you must customize the Fireworks output HTML.
To select an external source file as the source of a rollover:
1 | Choose Image File in the Swap Image, Nav Bar Over, or Nav Bar Down dialog box. |
2 | Navigate to the file you want to use. |
